Fades Scars

Fades Scars
How to fade acne scars / acne post march?

This January I had a rather severe attack of acne on my cheeks and jaw area. The post-acne marks and scars still here despite all the recommendations people have told me. I tried aloe vera, bio-oil, honey, aspirin but faded just a bit. They are a light pink color now. My left cheek is usually right after acne marks and my cheeks have 2 acne scars are pretty deep. What should I do? I have no money to go to a derm and get microdermabrasion.

Try pure oil. Vitamin E oil comes in small bottles (usually filled with the vitamins.) I have good things and use your own hearing. It takes a while (at least 1-2 months of semi-frequent use) to note Fri smoother looking skin. I use it on my face as often as possible, usually at night and then leave 's night. Or maybe you will work faster, everyone's skin is different. Or try taking vitamin E tablets or other vitamins to help boost the immune system (Zinc is great too.) Another great thing that reduces scars are chemical peels. There is a reputable online site where you can create your own chemical peel kit, so you do not have to go to a dermatologist and $ 500 for them to spend (do makeupartistschoice.com and click on "chemical peels") Read all up. I peel one of them already ordered and it is as good as some dermatologists to offer, but make sure you read and follow the instructions (not that hard.) Best luck

Scars of Love

Scars of Love

$11.98

The message of Scars of Love, Tears of Hope is simple. Become a "keeper of hope" and change the life of a child forever. Scars of Love explores the world of education in a surprising new light by using as a backdrop the stories of numerous at-risk kids Debbie Goforth has taught and counseled over her 27-year-career by exploring the remarkably effective approach she has developed in giving them hope for their futures. Scars of Love is based upon eleven attributes that an effective "keeper of hope" must demonstrate, from being approachable and dependable to creating hopes and dreams and showing compassion. It represents the tools that have helped the author to acknowledge and validate her kids, to make them feel good about themselves and their places in the world, and, most important by far, to show them how much she cares for them as people and individuals, not just as warm bodies. It should be of no surprise to find love at the center of this model, because none of the attributes the book discusses mean a thing if they don’t lead to a willingness to love the kids in our care. For educators, as adults, as keepers of hope, we have a choice. We can choose to leave scars of love on the kids we see and interact with everyday or we can leave scars of hurt. In the eyes of Debbie Goforth, the answer is the only one she is capable of leaving: scars of love. SCARS OF LOVE may be written from a teacher’s point of view, but it is meant for anyone who loves kids and longs for their happiness and success. The stories are as poignant as they are refreshing. They evoke tears as well as laughter. They inspire as well as educate. They illustrate the author’s eleven attributes the way a beautiful painting brings to life a moving landscape. Join us. Become a keeper of hope.

Judge Judy has heard enough. As a family court judge in New York City and now in her successful TV courtroom show, she has listened to thousands of excuses, complaints, and tales of woe from women of every background, and she’s ready to rule. Women, she states with her trademark frankness, need to wise up, stop subjugating who they are, and stop making stupid decisions in the name of love. They hide their talents and opinions so they won’t offend. They tiptoe through life letting others take credit for their ideas because they would rather be liked than respected. They spend their lives trying to please everyone but them-selves, and then they wonder why they feel so frustrated and unfulfilled.Beauty Fades, Dumb Is Forever presents Judge Judy’s ten hard and true lessons for happiness: Beauty fades, dumb is forever.Don’t crawl when you can fly. What goes up must come down.Denial is a river in Egypt.Master the game–then play it.You’re the trunk of the tree. You can’t teach the bull to dance.Failure doesn’t build character.Letting go is half the fun.You can be the hero of your own story.

Where Myth Fades to Legend

Where Myth Fades to Legend

The second full-length by North Carolina screamo act Alesana finds the sextet inching ever closer to the mall punk mainstream. Where the pretentiously titled debut, On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax, was focused primarily on lead singer Dennis Lee’s forced screams and growls, the more commercially minded Where Myth Fades to Legend makes far greater use of the band’s clean vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist Shawn Milke, whose appealingly whiny voice is more suited to the hooks-and-riffs songwriting that predominates here. Simply on that basis, the album is an improvement over their debut, and Where Myth Fades to Legend is conceivably of interest to some subset of the Vans Warped Tour crowd. ~ Stewart Mason, RoviPerformers: Jeremy Bryan – Drums, Vocals; Adam Ferguson – Guitar, Vocals (Background); Dennis James Lee – Vocals; Shawn Milke – Guitar, Piano, Vocals

The Scars of the Moon

The Scars of the Moon

$21.98

Isiak Aligan is a publisher, journalist and poet. This is his first collection of prose fiction in the short story genre. There are ten tightly constructed stories, focussing sharply on physical and mental aspects of Nigeria. The title story, The Scars of the Moon, relates the sombre psychological experiences of a jaded soldier, Captaion Moses, and his junior, Omolola, at a military preparation camp. The older soldier is trying to confront his past, and now present fears, halluncinations and nightmares. He joined the army against the slavery of thr past at the beginning of the civil war, and yet mental torment, hatred and madness have persisted. The reader may wonder about the present and future psychological scarring of a military way of life – in the context of the story and beyond – as the trauma repeats itself in the younger soldier. He can only find solace in a relationship with a girl who has given up on her body and mind and the world. The work received an honourable mention in the Association of Nigerian Authors’ Prose Prize.

The eleven stories in Kellie Wells’s debut collection cover a wide range of eccentric characters–from a young girl experiencing her friend’s strange demise, to a set of opposite-sex conjoined twins. Forced to deal with the debilitating confines of the physical world–usually manifest in some kind of deformity or affliction, from compression scars to mysterious blue skin–Wells’s characters struggle to transcend their existential disappointments and find some way and someone to love. In the title story, Ivy and her best friend Duncan struggle to understand their mortality as Ivy learns of his potentially fatal internal scarring caused by a moped accident. As Ivy says, "Things can get so strange so fast," and they frequently do in Wells’s stories. But Ivy and Duncan help each other escape their frightening, difficult world, if only momentarily, through imagination, good humor, and closeness. "Godlight" addresses most specifically the questions that are evident in all the stories: do you believe in God, and do you believe in reincarnation? Jonas, the Hyatt Regency Hotel’s live-in light bulb replacement man, encounters two different characters–a child who lives in the hotel and a woman who claims her identity has been altered for the Witness Protection Program–who ponder these questions. Meanwhile, Jonas is left wondering what has really become of his missing daughter, Emma. The physical world is brought into question frequently in this collection, and in "My Guardian, Claire," we see what can happen when someone tries to transcend it–and succeeds. During a séance to reach the narrator’s late mother, Claire reaches the spirit world and never truly returns. The narrator tries desperately to retrieve Claire through a hilarious trip to the Exotic Animal Drive-Thru Paradise. Compression Scars is an eloquent and original collection that vibrantly captures the oddities of both the everyday and the out-of-this-world.

No devil is as wicked as what lies in the soul of man.The Beast has taken just about everything it can from Sylvester Logan James, and for twenty years he has waged a vendetta with silver bullets and a perfect willingness to die. But fighting with monsters has consequences other than death. His feud has made him a villainous hero whose only virtue is the greater evil of his adversary. The struggle has twisted his conscience and tangled his spirit, leaving him embattled by occult machinations and a newfound fear of damnation. Though haunted by cryptic nightmares and insatiable guilt, Sylvester?s own resolve will not let him surrender to an easy death, but goads him into pain he cannot turn and spiritual anguish that will not be ignored. Like a wounded animal orchestrating its own destruction, Sylvester must contend with the ancient werewolf, Peter Stubbe, as well as the cannibal demon the First Nations call Windigo. With the vigor of his pathos drained to the dregs and his existence unsustainable, his only hope is to die with some fractional token of his soul intact. The Cheyenne spirits have named him Heart of Scars.

The Scars of Evolution

The Scars of Evolution

$24.98

When Elaine Morgan wrote The Descent of Woman in 1972, it sent shock waves around the world, and is now widely regarded as a key work on human evolution, and essential to any discussion of women’s place in society. Now, with The Scars of Evolution, Morgan offers a pioneering look just where it was our earliest ancestors came from, and the legacy–not always advantageous–that they left us. As she sets out to solve one of the enduring riddles of our origins–to discover the evolutionary path that separated us from the rest of the animals–Morgan shows that many of the theories currently accepted by scientists cannot explain our unique features: they leave too many questions unanswered. Millions of years ago, something happened to our ape ancestors that did not happen to the forebears of gorillas and chimpanzees, something that made them walk on two legs, lose their fur, sweat, develop larger brains, and learn to speak. While scientists have visited many a dig and studied many a fossil for clues, Elaine Morgan argues that all of the facts about our mysterious origins are right in front of us–in the form of fundamental flaws in the human design. Our propensity to suffer from lower back pain, obesity, varicose veins, acne, even infant death syndrome, is essentially the result of a cataclysmic event in our distant past. Scientists have long observed that our spines were not made for upright walking. Yet natural selection–the basic tenet of evolutionary theory–dictates that enduring changes to a species occur because of the need to adapt to changes in the environment. While thousands of working hours are lost each year to "bad backs," at some point long ago it must have been an advantage to walk on two legs. The most common theory is that we became bipedal while hunting on the African savannah, needing our arms free for weapons, using an upright stance to see enemies from afar. But as Morgan points out, animals need more speed on the savannah, both for pursuit and flight, than two legs can offer. Her explanation: bipedalism emerged from life in an aquatic environment due to the flooding of the African rift valley millennia ago. The apes that suddenly found themselves stranded in swamp land (a swamp that remained for thousands of years) had to walk upright to keep from drowning. The human tendency toward obesity was once not an unsightly health problem, but rather a lifesaving form of insulation, one present in all aquatic mammals. And as Morgan carefully considers all of our other uniquely human traits–our relative hairlessness, our ability to control our breathing, our inability to maintain proper salt levels–a compelling case emerges for our human origins in a watery environment. Lively, controversial, and presented with a brilliant logic, The Scars of Evolution will change the way you think about the world–and our place in it.

The night we left Middlesboro, Kentucky, was a cold blue night. As we past by the stock barn where we had been so many times before in the warmth of a beautiful sunny day, I thought to myself, ?Something tells me I will never see this place again.? There was no heat in the car, and the bitter icy cold winds blew up through the back seat where Linda Gail and little Junebug sat holding each other, wrapped in a quilt shivering, but without saying a word. We were so cold, and I was so angry. As I silently wept, I must have dozed off. When I woke, it was daylight, and we were in Kenosha, Wisconsin. I looked out the window and my first thought was, ?The only difference between this place and Hell is?fire and ice.? And if I had thought for one second that Wisconsin was Hell on earth, I was really in for a rude awakening. We arrived in downtown Detroit on a Greyhound bus in the wee hours of the night, right after the riots. Never in all my life had I ever seen such a wretched place. Johnnie Sue Bridges

Instead of getting on the rap-metal gravy train, this fearsome fivesome seems to be influenced in equal parts by the harder side of early-`90s grunge and `70s heavy/blues-rock. In Ryan McCombs`s larger-than-life vocals, one can discern traces of Scott Weiland and Layne Staley without much difficulty. And when they`re not thrashing and banging like an atom bomb in overdrive, the band lays into the kind of riffs that suggest they`ve spent some quality time with some musty old Uriah Heep and Mountain albums. Compared to some of their rootless contemporaries, that`s an unusual amount of historical consciousness. Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only. All rights reserved.

While the band excels at pummeling rhythms and searing guitar riffs, the group`s calling card is vocalist Mike Milford, who shifts deftly between a guttural growl and a melodic croon, often within the same phrase, as best revealed on THE FAILURE IN DROWNING`s lead single, "The Unwinding." $17.51

Alesana: Shawn Milke (vocals, guitar, piano); Dennis Lee (vocals); Adam Ferguson (guitar, background vocals); Patrick Thompson (guitar); Shane Crump (bass instrument, background vocals); Jeremy Bryan (drums).Post-hardcore outfit Alesana push their blend of screamo, pop-punk, metal, and emo further forward on their second full-length, WHERE MYTH FADES TO LEGEND. Much like their debut, WHERE MYTH is accessible, melodic, and crushingly intense. Twin classic metal guitars, jackhammer rhythms, and alternately sung and screamed vocals are the lynchpins of this bracing excursion into whiplash genre blending. Alesana may be too hard for emo fans, and too melodic for hardcore fans, but those with a taste for both will find WHERE MYTH FADES TO LEGEND fits the bill. Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. Christopher Lee returns to his signature role in this Hammer Studios production, the last of their period era Dracula films. In it, a young lothario named Paul is chased from his girlfriend’s birthday party because of an earlier tryst with the local Burgomaster’s daughter. Ending up asleep in the back of a carriage, Paul is unwittingly driven to Dracula’s castle. When Paul does not return the next day, his girlfriend Sarah and his brother Simon begin a search for him. They happen upon Dracula’s castle, where the Count denies having seen Paul, but insists that the pair spend the night. However, during the night, Simon finds evidence that Paul was indeed in the castle and begins to piece together the mystery. Stylish and brutally violent, SCARS OF DRACULA is another excellent entry into Hammer’s Dracula series that includes HORROR OF DRACULA, DRACULA, PRINCE OF DARKNESS, and DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE.

Scars of Sweet Paradise

Janis Joplin was the skyrocket chick of the sixties, the woman who broke into the boys’ club of rock and out of the stifling good-girl femininity of postwar America. With her incredible wall-of-sound vocals, Joplin was the voice of a generation, and when she OD’d on heroin in October 1970, a generation’s dreams crashed and burned with her. Alice Echols pushes past the legary Joplin-the red-hot mama of her own invention-as well as the familiar portrait of the screwed-up star victimized by the era she symbolized, to examine the roots of Joplin’s muscianship and explore a generation’s experiment with high-risk living and the terrible price it exacted.A deeply affecting biography of one of America’s most brilliant and tormented stars, Scars of Sweet Paradise is also a vivid and incisive cultural history of an era that changed the world for us all.

Reminiscent of `60s power trios such as Cream and especially the Jimi Hendrix Experience ("World of Confusion" is practically a rewrite of "Manic Depression" and "Ball and Chain" borrows the riff from "Voodoo Child"), Moore hasn`t abandoned the blues, he`s just pumped it up with blustery retro roots rock. With all the genre`s limitations, the guitarist is so obviously inspired in this format that the album is a success on its own terms, even though it breaks little new ground. "Wasn`t Born in Chicago" infuses jazzy drums and slight electronics to enhance the basic three-piece assault, resulting in the album`s most unique and arguably best performance. Moore`s pacing also helps as he softens his attack on ballads like "Just Can`t Let You Go" and the closing "Who Knows (What Tomorrow May Bring)?" He effectively shifts from tender to tense to explosive in seconds and, even on the nearly 13-minute "Ball and Chain," keeps the listener involved through a combination of six-string talent, full-bodied vocals, and a sense of dynamics. Occupying a well-worn space with a potent fusion of blues power and hard rock, Scars shows Gary Moore comfortable in his skin. It`s a rugged if not terribly original fusion that succeeds due to his talent, enthusiasm, and no-frills approach. ~ Hal Horowitz Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only. "Steve Brown takes us on a profound journey of his many steps, the many turnings of the wheels that have borne him through his life to the present moment. His shock, his anger, his bitterness, and, ultimately, his courage in the face of adversity, not only educate but remind us of his fine humanity as well as our own. His advocacy doesn’t preach but teaches. With words describing his life and the lives of those close to him, he opens a wide door through which any who can read or care to grow can pass."-Mark Medoff, Author of Children of a Lesser God"Disability culture is at the heart and soul of the disability movement, and in Steve Brown’s writings we see that culture shining in all its glory. " -Mary Johnson, Editor, Ragged Edge magazine"Movie Stars and Sensuous Scars is a powerful book. I strongly relate to Steve’s writing and ideas. The writing is clear and flows well. The ideas are beautifully radical. He gives true insight into disability and people with disabilities. His is a voice demanding to be heard."-David Pfeiffer, Disability Studies Quarterly editor

Deicide – Scars of the Crucifix [9/2]

$20.78

Deicide: Glen Benton (vocals, bass); Eric & Brian Hoffman (guitar); Steve Asheim (drums).Deicide: Glen Benton (vocals, bass guitar); Eric Hoffman, Brian Hoffman (guitars); Steve Asheim (drums, percussion).Floridian blasphemers Deicide have been instrumental in codifying the sound and style of death metal. SCARS OF THE CRUCIFIX is yet another refinement of the equation. The album`s brevity (about 30 minutes long) works to its advantage, positioning it as a swift and savage attack akin to a demon landing suddenly on your shoulders. The songs are of course primarily concerned with anti-Christian themes. "F**k Your God" is a blistering furnace of devil voices and molten guitars, and "Go Now the Lord is Dead" is two minutes` worth of dizzyingly angry drums. Typically, one can`t really understand all that much of Glenn Benton`s vocals, but clean production highlights the veteran band`s crisp, nimble playing. These are some seasoned, professional Satanists. Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only. All rights reserved.

With their excellent debut album, Montgomery Gentry have carved out their own place in that diverse duo category. On TATTOOS & SCARS, Eddie Montgomery (John Michael Montgomery`s brother) and Troy Gentry have come up with a winning formula of well-written, melodic songs mixed with some Southern rock attitude. The duo share lead vocal duties, and their gruff style works well on rowdy songs like "Hillbilly Shoes."Montgomery Gentry are tough-yet-sensitive guys who can admit to their romantic shortcomings ("Self-Made Man"), mourn a lost lover ("Trouble Is"), deliver a cautionary tale (the title track) and suffer the pain of busted relationships ("If A Broken Heart Could Kill"). The duo`s vocal delivery and the muscular arrangements keep songs like "Lonely & Gone" and "Daddy Won`t Sell the Farm" from becoming maudlin or mushy. The CD ends with an old-fashioned Southern rock rave-up, "All Night Long," complete with a guest appearance by Charlie Daniels. Like its title, TATOOS & SCARS makes an indelible impression. Observation Deck Standing on this deck I look down and observe. This deck is high above the lives of my friends At times I feel higher than all human kind I stand alone humbled in this crowd As the crowd separates Between the entertainers And the loners I stand back and observe. Perched above on this lonely deck, I wonder if I learn more from this distance Separation, separating myself from the world “They” all learn from their mistakes. From me they take and take I observe like I’m on a deck. From above looking down. I so want to look up instead of down Even if I have to jump off this deck Position my arms close to my eyes and just dive Dive into the rest of the world All it’s insecurity By now I should have learned my way around Or like Grenouille learned my smell around By now I should be able to stand on my own cloud Pour myself out and share with the crowd. This collection of dark, brooding poetry explores poet Joseph Saunders’s journey from boy to man over the course of a decade. Love, betrayal, beauty, and danger combine in an eclectic mix of words and emotions that compel you to delve into your soul.

Scars of War, Wounds of Peace

Scars of War, Wounds of Peace

$14.48

Former Israeli Foreign Minister Shlomo Ben-Ami was a key figure in the Camp David negotiations and many other rounds of peace talks, public and secret, with Palestinian and Arab officials. Here he offers an unflinching account of the Arab-Israeli conflict, informed by his firsthand knowledge of the major characters and events. Clear-eyed and unsparing, Ben-Ami traces the twists and turns of the Middle East conflict and gives us behind-the-scenes accounts of the meetings in Oslo, Madrid, and Camp David. The author paints particularly trenchant portraits of key figures from Ben-Gurion to Bill Clinton. He is highly critical of both Ariel Sharon and the late Yasser Arafat, seeing Arafat’s rejection of Clinton’s peace plan as a crime against the Palestinian people. The author is also critical of President Bush’s Middle East policy, which he calls "a presumptuous grand strategy." Along the way, Ben-Ami highlights the many blunders on both sides, describing for instance how the great victory of the Six Day War launched many Israelis on a misbegotten "messianic" dream of controlling all the Biblical Jewish lands, which only served to make the Palestinian problem much worse. In contrast, it has only been when Israel has suffered setbacks that it has made moves towards peace. The best hope for the region, he concludes, is to create an international mandate in the Palestinian territories that would lead to the implementation of Clinton’s two-state peace parameters. Scars of War, Wounds of Peace is a major work of history–with by far the most fair and balanced critique of Israel ever to come from one of its key officials. This paperback edition features a new Epilogue by the author featuring an analysis of the most recent events in the Israeli-Arab situation, from the disappearance of Ariel Sharon from public life to the emergence of Hamas and Israel’s recent war against Hizballah. It is an absolute must-read for everyone who wants to understand the dynamics of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
