How much fat should be consumed by an adult per day?

Depending on your carb level, much as you need your carbs low fat and food if you eat low fat high carbohydrate you need. Problems occur with a high carbohydrate, high fat diets. I argue for a high fat diet, more commonly referred to as a low carb diet or high protein diet is actually a misnomer. Although carbohydrates are low, the protein is only slightly more than enough, but the magic happens in this plan with the fat. Glucose is the preferred fuel bodies (if you want to get technical, if indeed alcohol burns the most efficient, but it makes for a healthier body than carbohydrates), the body can convert 100% of carbohydrates, 58% protein and 10% of the fat in food into glucose. It can also be powered by body fat (fat in the diet And fat cells), but only in the absence of carbohydrates. You actually prefer brains to be fueled by ketones (part of the fat burning process), only the heart requires glucose, but glucose can easily be converted from fat stores or too much protein, if necessary or dietary fat. Normalize blood pressure, blood sugar, insulin, cholesterol, triglyercerides and hormone levels are all bonus features of doing a low carb way of eating. Atkins program, the health plan a cardiologist simpler sold as a "diet" (since weight loss was an additional benefit). Your body fat is required, you will die without them. Your body needs protein, you will die without them. You die if you eat protein without fat. You do not need carbohydrates. The body can manufacture everything needs to protein / fat combination. High fat, adequate protein and very low carbohydrate after 3 days will turn your body to burn fat as fuel (ketosis). While in ketosis you will burn fat in the diet and dietary fat and is more than enough, body fat directly. High calories will keep the metabolism maximum fat burning potential. while trying to eat carbohydrates to lose body fat is terribly inefficient. When in glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) you lower your calories (which slows your metabolism) and heavy exercise deplete your glycogen stores to burn body fat. A calorie is a calorie. The body does not follow logically mathematical equations. Metabolism is controlled by diet. You can not 600/1000/1500/2000 calories eating fruit (choose a number, it does not matter – only the amount of stored fat changes), Will treat your body like a starving (what it is starved of food) and will end your metabolism if you eat nothing but will save every ounce as fat. Conversely, you wont weight on 4,000 or more calories of fat and protein (as fat is 65% of calories), as insulin (the fat storage hormone) is not activated. Your body will not release fat stores when you have less calories than what it needs. It will slow your metabolism to compensate and to save the reserve ounce as fat. If you continue to reduce your calories, continue lowering that setpoint, til you can not survive off and store fat in everything. It body fat stores as it will only know that there is enough food. Of course they lose some weight at first, but it is water weight and lean tissue, but their bodies are fat storing machine. While all possible to live in a fat / protein diet only for the long term (as shown by research in a hospital setting) it will quickly dull. Fortunately many, many vegetables and some fruits, nuts and seeds are low in carbohydrates and greatly expand the diet. Most long-term low carbers eat so much, if not more non starchy vegetables than vegetarians. opponents of the high fat, high protein Atkins diet claim that Dr. Dean Ornish's low-fat vegetarian diet as optimal nutrition. I think Atkins and Ornish's plans are not inconsistent that they both promote health as their ultimate goal. They agree that the biggest problem occurs when you mix carbohydrates with fat. They agree that no highly refined carbohydrate diet with man made fats (trans fats, hydrogenated fats) produces mass quantities of the current obesity / health degradation epidemic of global importance. Ultimately, your diet should be what can you live? I personally would not like to live without meat, fat, cheese. I do not have calorie restrictions. It is easier for me to make do without "in moderation".
